does God have a Tim Tebow complex?

For those that know me well, it may come as a shock that I am mentioning sports.  I didn’t grow up in a household of avid sports fans, thus, I’ve never tuned in.  BUT that is all quickly changing.  I am learning football and this past Saturday I went to Navy vs. Western Kentucky game (IN THE RAIN, without complaint).

And if you heard about the Florida vs. University of Kentucky game, you know that Tim Tebow (the QB for the Gators)– I’m kinda shocking myself with all this sports talk– played WITH the flu against UK.

I heard bits of the Florida/UK game via iphone…let’s just say that Ry was not happy with his team getting crushed by Florida, especially with several of the players sick.  I joked, “Well, Tim Tebow can do all things through Christ who strengthens him (Philippians 4:13)!”  Ry didn’t find it quite so amusing as I did…but it’s true.

When we are weak, God is strong. For as much as Tim Tebow trains to play football, in the end, God doesn’t need our effort, talents, skills to “win the game”– but God does desire our hearts to be completely surrendered to Him.

Acts 17:25
And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.

And God wants to use those that are His– 2 Chronicles 16:9
“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

Check out this video to see how the Lord is using Tim Tebow off the field– abroad in the Philippines and here at home in prisons:
